New! Snap to Sell in Alt Auctions

Product Releases

April 28, 2025

Get a Cash Advance quote faster and easier right in the Alt App.

We just made getting a cash advance as simple as snapping a picture. With Alt’s new Snap to Sell feature, it only takes a few minutes to submit cards for a quote.

How it works?
1. Snap a Photo 📸
Use the Alt app to take a photo of one or more graded cards. Submit your photos and request an estimate.

2. Get an Estimate in 1 Business Day 🕝
Alt’s expert team, powered by our machine learning-backed Alt Value algorithm, will estimate your submission’s value.

3. Review Your Estimate 🏦
You’ll get a cash advance offer (up to 70% of the valuation). Estimates expire after 48 hours.

4. Ship and Get Paid 📦
Once your cards are received at the Vault, the cash advance is automatically deposited into your Alt account.

5. Get Paid Again 💰

Your cards will be ran in Alt Auctions and you’ll receive the remaining payout after the final sale.

We currently accept SGA, BGS, BVG, SGC, CGC, and CSG graded trading cards through the Snap to Sell feature. For factory sealed cards, questions about the tool, or any other feedback, reach out to our team of experts for assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Couldn’t Identify an Item

We will only accept items which we can programmatically identify by scanning the cert number. The grading companies we support are PSA, BGS, BVG, SGC, CGC, and CSG. We also use this data to improve our AI imaging model, reducing identification issues for future submissions.

However, some cards may always be unidentifiable due to the following reasons:

Raw or Ungraded Cards
  • Alt does not currently accept raw or ungraded cards (cards without authentication from a major grading company).
  • We are working toward allowing all card types in the future, but for now, these cards cannot be submitted through our platform.
Factory-Sealed Cards
  • We do accept these cards in our auctions, but cannot support them in this flow currently. Please reach out to our Alt Experts if you would like to add a factory sealed item to a submission.
Cert Number not legible
  • Our system identifies graded cards by mapping the cert number into our database, so please ensure the cert number is fully legible and not blocked by glare, shadows, reflections, or other markers on the case.
  • If you receive an identification error while photographing a graded card, please retake it and ensure the cert number is not blocked while also capturing the image of the card itself.
  • In rare situations, we may be unable to identify a graded card, so if an error persists even after correcting the photo issues, please contact support@alt.xyz and include an image of the card.

Submitting for a Price Estimate

When using Alt’s Snap to Sell to request a price estimate, you may encounter some common questions:

Q: Am I committed to selling my cards if I get an estimate?

A: No, receiving an estimate does not commit you to selling. You are only committed once you accept a cash advance and ship your items to our vault. After that, cards can only be withdrawn in extreme circumstances at Alt’s discretion.

Q: What types of items am I able to submit for a price estimate?

A: Only graded cards from PSA, BGS, CGC, and SGC are eligible for cash advances. For any factory sealed cards, we can sell these but you should contact an Alt Expert to add them to your submission. For any raw cards, our experts can assist with grading of these assets first and then they can be sold on Alt.

Q: Can I make changes to my lot after submitting for a price estimate?

A: Yes, you can make changes after submission. There is a button to add items in the Estimate Details screen. If you're unable to update your lot in the app, reach out to an Alt Expert for assistance.

Q: Can I make changes to my lot after accepting a cash advance offer?

A: No, once you have accepted the offer within the app there should not be any changes made. All items must be shipped to the vault together in order for the stated cash advance to be issued, otherwise we reserve the right to reprice the cards and credit a different amount.

Q: Can I have multiple open quotes simultaneously?

A: Yes, there is no limit on the number of submissions per account. Users should be mindful to not submit multiple quotes with the same cards at the same time, as we will monitor abuse and may impose restrictions on accounts if needed.

Q: After I receive a cash advance offer back from Alt, how long do I have to accept or reject?

A: Alt’s cash advance offers are valid for 48 hours from the point of completion.

Q: What if I do not agree with Alt’s estimates for my cards or want to obtain more information about the process?

A: At any point throughout the flow, customers have the ability to ‘chat with an expert’ directly in the app.

Q: After accepting an estimate, how long do I have to ship my items to the vault?

A: We allow users about a week from time of acceptance to item delivery at our vault. This is to ensure enough time for vault ingestion, which can take 24-48 hours, and also to account for weekends. In situations where items arrive after a week, we reserve the right to re-price the items due to market risk.

Q: When do I actually receive my cash?

A: Cash advances are deposited directly into a user’s account within 24 hours of all items pending vault review. Once items arrive at our vault, it can take anywhere from 24-48 hours for them to be processed and vaulted. If there are any issues detected with either the case or items (i.e. damaged case or item is mislabeled/damaged inside the case), there could be a delay in issuing cash advances and in some cases, we may not be able to sell the item on Alt.

Understanding Market Factors in Cash Advances

When submitting cards to Alt for a cash advance, it's important to recognize that market conditions can impact valuations, even when Alt has a high degree of confidence in our pricing models.

Alt's model provides a point-in-time valuation, but market fluctuations—such as a season-ending injury or supply and demand—can affect a card's value between the time of valuation and its sale at auction.

To reduce this risk:

  • Submit more cards: A larger portfolio helps mitigate the impact of individual fluctuations.
  • Diversify your submissions: Cards from different sports or categories (e.g., Pokémon) reduce the likelihood of a single event affecting all assets simultaneously.

By diversifying and submitting multiple assets, you increase stability and minimize the potential impact of market shifts to Alt and in return we are able to issue a higher cash advance.

Estimate Processing Time

Estimates can take up to 1 business day to complete. In certain circumstances this window may be longer due to unforeseen circumstances, but we will always do our best to price your items as quickly as possible.

Understanding Card Valuations & Providing Feedback

Determining the true value of a card can be challenging, even with industry data on recent sales. That’s why Alt provides full transparency whenever possible by showing you the comparable sales (comps) used to determine your card’s valuation. If there are no direct comps of an item available, Alt does its best to find the most similar item(s) and establish a linear relationship between them.

Knowing that pricing is both an art and a science, feedback helps us refine our pricing models—not just for you, but for all collectors, consignors, and hobbyists who rely on our data every day.

Expired Quotes

If your quote has expired, please resubmit your request. All quotes expire within 7 days from initial pricing to ensure pricing reflects the most up-to-date market data.

If you’d like to modify your quote, you can:

  • Add additional cards to your submission.
  • Contact an Alt Expert to request a review using different industry sales comps.

We’re sorry to see that you’ve declined your cash advance estimate.
