ALT HITS
September 20, 2022
Welcome back to ALT Hits. Before we get to the news, we’ve got a couple product announcements for you.
First, did you know what when you list cards for sale on ALT you can also list them on eBay? Just create a Fixed Price listing and your card will appear on both platforms. You get paid the same regardless of where the sale is, so list your cards today to reach more buyers than ever.
And coming later this week you’ll be able to search the entire hobby on ALT. Looking for a special card, player, or type of card? ALT will let you know anywhere it’s listed. Stay tuned for details and we’ll let you know when this function goes live.
Now on with the HITS.
HERBIE (FOR THE) FULLY LOADED
Justin Herbert may have taken a big hit last Thursday, but that’s nothing compared to the hits a couple of his collectors’ wallets recently took. Herbert joined Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes as the only QBs to have a card sell for over $1 million, as two of his cards recently hit that plateau.
For the collectors, it’s a big investment in a player who’s put up eye-popping numbers through two seasons, while he aims to change the fortunes of a Chargers franchise that has just one Super Bowl appearance since joining the NFL in 1970. For the hobby, it’s a great sign that things remain healthy. Have any cards with million dollar potential you’re looking to unload? You’re always welcome to submit them to ALT Liquid Auctions.
ACE OF FIRST PLACE
The Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA Championship over the weekend, the first title in the history of the franchise that’s moved from Utah to San Antonio to Vegas over the last 25 years. The team was led on the court by 2X WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson and series MVP Chelsea Gray, and off the court by former Spurs assistant Becky Hammon, who was passed over for NBA jobs only to win a title in her first year as the Head Coach of the Aces. We’d link to Wilson, Gray and Hammon cards on ALT, but they’re all gone! More proof that WNBA cards are picking up steam. Instead we’ll link to this stunning Sabrina Ionescu 1/1 available in this week’s Liquid Auctions.
TFW YOU REALLY LIKE MIKE
The jersey Michael Jordan wore in game one of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for $10.1 million, breaking the record for game-worn memorabilia. And considering the Bulls lost the game, it will likely be the highest sale of a jersey worn in a losing effort for quite some time.

As of this writing he has 11 goals through just seven matches, which is five more than anyone else in the league. And in case you missed it, last week he had one of the more amazing scores you’ll ever see to put away his former club, Borussia Dortmund.
TED’S IN THE GAME
FIFA 23 comes out next week and it’s been announced that everyone’s favorite fake club, Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond will be playable in the game.
CHROME IS BURNING
The biggest card release of last week was 2022 Topps Chrome baseball. Here’s a look at what you can find in the packs. And since Topps admitted there was a bit of a mix up, here’s what you won’t find.
AIR BALVIN
J Balvin’s Air Jordan collaboration is responsible for one of the hottest sneaker drops of the year. Boardroom did a very informative deep dive into this highly sought after shoe.

MY COLLECTION WILL GO ON (AND ON)
