At Alt, we’re always looking for ways to improve the buying and selling experience!
Going into effect Thursday, March 13, we’re making important updates to our payment process to create a smoother, more transparent marketplace.
What’s Changing?
We’re introducing new payment windows based on purchase amounts to ensure timely payments and a better experience for all users.
One-Hour Payment Window for Purchases Under $10,000
- Buyers will have one hour to change their preferred method of payment after the auction ends.
- If checkout isn’t initiated within the hour, Alt will automatically charge the saved payment method on file.
- Need more time? Reach out to our Collector Support team, and we’ll work with you.
Five-Day Payment Window for Purchases Over $10,000
- Buyers will have five days to change their preferred method of payment after the auction ends.
- Need more time? Reach out to our Collector Support team, and we’ll work with you.
- If checkout isn’t initiated within five days, Alt will automatically charge the saved payment method on file.

Why Are We Making These Changes?
We’ve all been there—waiting on payments or questioning whether bidding was legitimate. Unpaid cards and last-minute issues create unnecessary friction for both buyers and sellers. By implementing these changes, we’re setting a higher standard for accountability in auctions:

✅ More transparency—ensuring fair play in every auction.
✅ A better experience for all collectors—fewer delays, more confidence in the marketplace.
While immediate checkout is standard in most industries, we know it hasn’t always been the norm in the hobby. But we believe this shift will create a fairer, more reliable system for everyone.
When Do These Changes Take Effect?
These updates will apply to all auctions, with the first impacted auction ending on Thursday, March 13.

FAQ:
Is it $10,000 for one card or $10,000 in total purchases?
Any user who wins any amount of cards totaling over $10,000 in any single Auction will have five days to complete their checkout. If the total amount is less than $10,000, there will be a one hour payment window once auctions end.
Why change the payment period?
We are shortening the time span to reduce the risk of unpaid or rerunning items, which in turn creates a healthier marketplace for buyers and sellers. This should get sellers paid out fast and gets the cards in buyer’s vaults faster. As always, our team is happy to work with you should you need more time to complete the checkout on your Auction winnings, just reach out to us to set up a plan.
What happens if I don’t complete my checkout within the payment window?
Users will have their payment on file automatically charged to cover their auction purchases. Your payment can be changed at any point during the checkout flow and if you have an issue with your account, please reach out to our Collector Support team.
Can I change my preferred payment method at any time?
Currently, you are able change your payment method when you go through our checkout flow following the close of the Auction. During this time, you’ll have the chance to add or modify your payment type or utilize any of our other payment methods such as Wire Transfer, Pay by Consignment, or get a Payment Plan on larger cards.
What if I have an unsupported Bank Account?
Our Collector Support team will be able to assist you if you experience any issues with adding a bank account, simply reach out to them and they’ll get it resolved!
What if my payment on file doesn't go through within one hour?
If you need more time to complete payment, reach out to our Collector Support team at support@alt.xyz prior to auction ending, or as soon as you can after the auction ends. If a buyer fails to complete payment within the time frames:
- Their remaining payment methods on file will be charged automatically
- If that payment is unsuccessful, a demand letter will be sent to the buyer and Alt will pursue all actions available to us under the law.
- After a few days, if payment is still not initiated, the buyer's Alt account may be suspended
