Pop2
This 1996 Japanese Pokémon Promos Pikachu was distributed as a glossy insert in the November issue of CoroCoro Comic, featuring Ken Sugimori's historic early illustration of the franchise's mascot. Graded Very Good+ 3.5 by Beckett Grading Services (BGS), this card represents a notoriously condition-sensitive era for Japanese promotional releases. The subgrades showcase Centering at 5, Edges at 5, Corners at 4, and Surface at 2.5, with the surface designation highlighting the typical wear expected of a card distributed directly inside a paper magazine over twenty-five years ago.
As one of the foundational promotional releases in the history of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, this "Glossy ERR Sugimori" Pikachu predates the game's western expansion by years. Unlike standard Japanese Base Set cards, these early CoroCoro promos featured a distinctive glossy finish and were distributed without protective packaging, leading to a high rate of damage upon release. This specimen offers collectors a documented piece of the franchise's earliest print history, showcasing the original chubby Pikachu design that defined the brand's debut era.Show more
