This 1985-86 Star Michael Jordan #117 is graded BGS 9 Mint, representing a highly preserved specimen of Jordan's early-career catalog. Serving as a blue-chip basketball asset, this card features subgrades of 9.5 for Corners, Edges, and Surface, paired with an 8.5 for Centering. The Star Co. issues of the mid-1980s are notoriously condition-sensitive due to their distribution in sealed plastic polybags, which frequently caused centering shifts and edge wear on the outer cards of the team packs. Out of the Beckett grading population, 305 copies have achieved this Mint 9 grade, making it a cornerstone acquisition for any elite collection.
Released during Jordan's sophomore season in the NBA, the 1985-86 Star set stands as a landmark release in basketball card history. Because Star Co. held the exclusive NBA trading card license from 1983 to 1986, these issues represent the only official league-licensed team cards of Jordan's earliest years in Chicago. This card captures the Hall of Famer in his red Chicago Bulls away jersey, preserving a key moment from the start of a career that would include six NBA championships and five MVP awards.Show more
