This 1999 Pokémon Base Set Holo Blastoise #2 is graded PSA 9 Mint. Only 646 copies exist in this precise grade within the PSA population report, representing a highly selective tier of preservation for one of the most celebrated cards in the franchise's history. Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, this card is a certified 'Shadowless' printing, recognizable by the absence of a drop shadow on the right side of the art border, thinner typography on the '100 HP' designation, and the expanded '1995, 96, 98, 99' copyright date at the bottom.
The Shadowless print run serves as a pivotal bridge in early TCG history, representing the second, highly restricted printing of the inaugural 1999 English Base Set before Wizards of the Coast transitioned to the standardized Unlimited run. Blastoise remains a central pillar of the vintage Pokémon hobby, and finding a holographic card from this early, condition-sensitive era with clean borders, minimal silvering, and intact foil surfaces at a Mint 9 level is a notable achievement for serious set builders.Show more
