The 1999 Pokémon Base Set 1st Edition Holo Alakazam #1 is an investment-grade cornerstone piece from the inaugural English release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, this example sits at the highest tier assigned by Professional Sports Authenticator. PSA records show a population of 93 copies in this grade. Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, the card depicts the Stage 2 Psychic-type Pokémon with 80 HP and its signature 'Damage Swap' Pokémon Power, featuring the distinct 1st Edition edition symbol alongside the shadowless border formatting standard to the first print run.
Produced by Wizards of the Coast in early 1999, the Base Set established the worldwide foundation for the TCG franchise. Occupying the #1 slot in the 102-card set checklist, Alakazam leads the expansion's 16 holographic rare subjects. Due to the inherent condition sensitivity of vintage 1990s foil surfaces and the strict limits of the initial production run, Gem Mint 1st Edition holographics remain central reference points for serious TCG collectors.Show more
