This 1979 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card (#18) is graded PSA EX-MT 6, featuring a signature in blue ink across the front of the card that is certified and graded a perfect AUTO 10 by PSA/DNA. As the definitive rookie card of the NHL's all-time leading scorer, this O-Pee-Chee release is distinguished by its bilingual French and English text on the card back. The PSA population database records 2,128 examples of this card graded at the EX-MT 6 level, with autographed examples representing a limited subset of the overall population.
Released for the 1979-80 season following the WHA-NHL merger, this card marks Gretzky's entry into the NHL, preceding a career that produced four Stanley Cup championships, nine Hart Trophies, and a 1999 Hockey Hall of Fame induction. The 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee set is recognized for its condition-sensitive blue borders, which easily reveal edge and corner wear, making authenticated, dual-graded examples with a certified autograph highly significant to vintage hockey collectors.Show more
