This 1996 Japanese Pocket Monsters Base Set Mewtwo holofoil card represents the pinnacle of condition preservation, graded PSA Gem Mint 10. Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, the card displays the classic starburst cosmos foil pattern against Mewtwo's vibrant purple background. Out of all submissions to PSA, there are 764 examples of this card that have achieved the Gem Mint 10 designation, indicating the immense difficulty of finding copies from this era with pristine centering, corners, and surface qualities. Released on October 20, 1996, the Japanese Expansion Pack (later released globally as Base Set) launched the Pokémon Trading Card Game franchise. This Japanese print features the original, era-specific "Pocket Monsters" card back design with the signature red-and-white Pokéball, which was replaced in western markets. Designated as No. 150 in the Pokédex, Mewtwo stands as one of the ultimate chase cards of the Generation 1 era, representing a landmark release in TCG history.Show more
