The 1998 Pokémon Japanese Vending Series 1 Bulbasaur #1 is graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA. According to the PSA population report, 244 examples have attained this top grade. Illustrated by Sumiyoshi Kizuki, this issue features unique laboratory-themed artwork created specifically for the Vending Machine expansion rather than reusing standard set artwork.
Released exclusively in Japan via random-card vending machines, Expansion Sheet 1 required collectors to peel individual cards directly from glossy sheet backing. Because this distribution mechanism left cards highly susceptible to corner wear and surface scratches upon removal, high-grade surviving copies remain difficult to acquire in Gem Mint condition.Show more
