Featuring artwork by the legendary illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita, this holographic card represents one of the most iconic card designs in the entire history of the franchise. Out of all submissions evaluated by CGC, only 82 examples have achieved this pristine Gem Mint 10 grade, making it a highly challenging condition rarity for collectors of vintage Wizards of the Coast era releases. The card displays exceptionally crisp borders, rich color saturation, and a bright holographic pattern free of the heavy surface wear common to vintage binder cards.
Released in April 2000, Base Set 2 served as a compilation set designed to combine cards from the original Base Set and the Jungle expansion. Because of its short print run and the fact that these cards were heavily played on playgrounds and in tournaments during the height of the Pokémon phenomenon, finding copies in Gem Mint condition is rare.
