This 2006 Japanese Pokémon Holon Phantom 1st Edition Gyarados Gold Star (#008/052) is graded NM-MT 8 by Beckett Grading Services. The card boasts exceptional eye appeal, supported by subgrades of 9.5 for Centering and 9.5 for Surface, alongside an 8 for Corners and 7.5 for Edges. According to the Beckett population report, only 18 copies of this card have been awarded this specific grade. Illustrated by Masakazu Fukuda, the card features the iconic shiny Red Gyarados as a Delta Species Fire-type, complete with the printed restriction limiting players to just one Pokémon Star card per deck.
Gold Star cards are among the most celebrated subsets in Pokémon TCG history, debuting in the EX era to showcase shiny Pokémon with dynamic artwork extending past the standard character frame. The Holon Phantom expansion introduced Delta Species Pokémon adapted to the unique magnetic fields of the Holon region, resulting in Gyarados shifting to an unusual Fire typing. Due to extremely challenging pull rates during their original 2006 release, Japanese 1st Edition Gold Star cards remain highly prized representation pieces from the franchise's classic era.Show more
