The 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. #1 is the flagship rookie card from Upper Deck's inaugural baseball release, a set that established new industry standards with premium paper stock, sharp photography, and tamper-evident holograms on the card back. Graded PSA 10 Gem Mint, this example shows top-tier centering, clean surfaces, and intact corners. Out of more than 100,000 submissions evaluated by PSA, 4,377 examples have attained the Gem Mint designation.
Selected first overall in the 1987 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners, Griffey put together a 22-year Major League career that included 630 home runs, 13 All-Star selections, 10 consecutive Gold Glove Awards, and the 1997 American League MVP title.
