1997 Metal Universe Platinum Portrait Michael Jordan #1
Basketball Cards
BGS8.5
Pop48
An absolute masterpiece of late-1990s basketball insert design, this 1997-98 Metal Universe Platinum Portraits Michael Jordan is a cornerstone addition for any elite collection. Utilizing a revolutionary concept, the card is composed of thousands of tiny, precision-cut perforated holes that together create a pixelated portrait of His Airness against a matte, platinum-finished metallic background. This innovative visual style is complemented by shimmering holographic foil text on the front. Graded BGS 8.5 (NM-MT+) by Beckett Grading Services, this copy presents beautifully with exceptional eye appeal, bolstered by an impressive 9.5 subgrade for Centering along with balanced 8.5 subgrades for Edges, Corners, and Surface.
Capturing Jordan during his legendary "Last Dance" season with the Chicago Bulls, the Platinum Portraits set remains one of the most celebrated and highly sought-after inserts of the decade. Because of the delicate nature of the perforated card stock and its sensitive metallic edges, finding examples in such strong condition is incredibly difficult. For serious collectors and sports card curators, this card represents the perfect intersection of peak-era design, extreme condition sensitivity, and the enduring legacy of the game's greatest icon.Show more
