This 2005 Japanese Pokémon Mewtwo Gold Star #002 originates from the Gift Box Mew & Lucario. Graded a Mint 9 by Beckett Grading Services (BGS), this specimen exhibits complete uniformity with solid 9 subgrades across all four categories: Centering, Corners, Edges, and Surface. Beckett has graded only 12 copies at this Mint 9 level, highlighting the scarcity of high-grade examples from this era. Illustrated by Masakazu Fukuda, the artwork captures Mewtwo in its shiny color palette, with its green tail and chest plate breaking past the illustration border—a hallmark design of the classic Gold Star series.\n\nIntroduced during the EX era, Gold Star cards represent one of the most historically significant subsets in the Pokémon TCG, defined by their distinct alternate colorations and the restrictive "one per deck" rule printed on the card face. While standard Gold Star cards were distributed as challenging pulls in booster packs, this Japanese Mewtwo Gold Star was exclusively obtainable within the limited-release 2005 Gift Box Mew & Lucario, cementing its position as a specialized chase card for collectors of vintage Japanese promotions.Show more
