This 1996 Japanese Base Set Charizard #006 is graded PSA 9 Mint. Representing the premier chase card from the historic debut of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in Japan, this copy features the seminal artwork of illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita. A population of 4,202 copies have achieved this Mint 9 designation from PSA, indicating a well-preserved survivor of the game's inaugural 1996 print run.
The 1996 Japanese Base Set introduced the franchise's card mechanics to the world, featuring a distinct starry holofoil pattern and the classic "Pocket Monsters" card back. Unlike subsequent Western releases, early Japanese prints utilized high-gloss cardstock that is exceptionally sensitive to corner chipping and surface scratching. This PSA 9 example retains its sharp borders, vibrant coloration, and clean registration, showcasing the card exactly as it was introduced in the late 1990s.Show more
