This 1999 Pokémon Base Set Pikachu #58 combines the distinctive Red Cheeks variant with the unshadowed art frame characteristic of early Shadowless production. Graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA, the card shows crisp image clarity and intact yellow borders. Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, PSA records show a population of 843 copies at this top grade.
During the inaugural English print runs by Wizards of the Coast, Pikachu's cheeks were briefly colored red to match the character's facial electricity before being corrected back to yellow to match Arita's original illustration for all subsequent Unlimited releases. Paired with the missing drop shadow on the right side of the art window, the Red Cheeks Shadowless card remains a documented artifact from the foundational launch of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.Show more
