Featured here is the 1999 Pokémon Game Base Set Holo Blastoise #2, graded PSA 9 Mint. Illustrated by Ken Sugimori, this Stage 2 Holo Rare is designated as card 2/102 within the inaugural English expansion. According to the PSA population report, 4,937 copies have achieved this grade. The card features the classic holographic foil pattern framing Blastoise alongside its 100 HP stat, Rain Dance Pokémon Power, and Hydro Pump attack.
Released by Wizards of the Coast in 1999, Base Set introduced the Pokémon Trading Card Game to English-speaking markets. As the fully evolved Water-type starter and cover mascot for Pokémon Blue, Blastoise holds a foundational position in the franchise's history. Its Rain Dance ability became a cornerstone mechanic in early TCG competitive play by enabling unrestricted Water Energy attachments per turn, making card #2 a central release from the original TCG print era.Show more
