This 1999 Pokémon Base Set Shadowless Charizard #4 is graded BGS 9 Mint by Beckett Grading Services, backed by subgrades of Centering 9, Edges 9, Surface 9, and Corners 8.5. Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita, the card depicts Charizard with 120 HP, the Energy Burn Pokémon Power, and the Fire Spin attack. BGS population records report 225 copies graded at this exact BGS 9 tier.
Produced in 1999, the Shadowless print run represents an intermediate production window between the initial 1st Edition release and the standard Unlimited Base Set distribution. Distinguished by the absence of a drop shadow to the right of the art frame and the inclusion of '99 Wizards in the copyright text, Shadowless cards saw a restricted print volume relative to subsequent Unlimited printings, establishing Charizard #4 as the anchor card of the original Wizards of the Coast set.Show more
