This 2015 Japanese Pokémon promotional card features Pikachu wearing a Gyarados poncho, designated as card #151/XY-P. Released as part of the Pretend Magikarp & Gyarados Special Box, the card features artwork by illustrator Kouki Saitou. This example has been graded Pristine 10 by CGC, featuring the company's gold Pristine label. The CGC population for this card at the Pristine 10 grade stands at 34 copies. Given its scarcity in this top-tier grade, this specimen represents an investment-grade addition to a serious collection.
The Pretend Gyarados Pikachu promo was exclusively distributed within the Pretend Magikarp & Gyarados Special Box, released at Pokémon Centers in Japan in December 2015. This release helped establish the Poncho-wear Pikachu thematic promo series of the XY era. These boxes were produced in limited quantities for Japanese retail locations, with no international English-language equivalent, making this original Japanese printing the only way to acquire this artwork.Show more
