The 1999 Pokémon Base Set Shadowless Charizard #4 features artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita and stands as the key holographic card from the early Wizards of the Coast era. Graded PSA 1 Poor, this card has a recorded population of 1,010 copies in the PSA population report. The Shadowless classification identifies it as part of the intermediate print run, distinguished by the absence of a drop shadow to the right of the illustration frame and thinner text font for HP and attacks. Physical attributes show heavy surface wear consistent with the grade, including visible holo-foil scratching, creasing across the card surface, and prominent whitening along the edges of the reverse blue border.
Positioned historically between the initial 1st Edition release and the broader Unlimited print run, the Shadowless Base Set represents a distinct chapter in early Pokémon TCG production. Featuring Charizard's original Stage 2 layout with 120 HP, the "Energy Burn" Pokémon Power, and the 100-damage "Fire Spin" attack, card #4 remains the core chase piece of the original 102-card Base Set expansion.Show more
