This 2014 Japanese Pokémon XY Promo features the iconic "Mega Tokyo's Pikachu" (098/XY-P) graded a Gem Mint 10 by PSA. Illustrated by Kouki Saitou, the card depicts Pikachu clad in a Mega Charizard Y poncho against a holographic starburst background, accented by the dedicated Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo logo stamp on the right side of the art window. Out of the examples submitted to PSA, 6,154 have achieved this Gem Mint 10 designation, indicating a highly competitive condition tier for a Japanese promotional release. Distributed in December 2014, this card was created to commemorate the grand opening and relocation of the flagship Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo to Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. As the debut release of the "Poncho-wearing Pikachu" design campaign, it established a highly collectible thematic archetype that defined Japanese Pokémon Center exclusives for the decade that followed. Its crossover artwork featuring the franchise's two most prominent mascots gives it enduring historical significance within the modern era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.Show more
