This 2016 Pokémon Japanese XY Promo features the Holofoil Mario Pikachu (293/XY-P), graded a Mint 9 by PSA. Released exclusively in Japan as part of the Mario Pikachu Special Box, this card represents a direct crossover between Nintendo's two flagship franchises. PSA has graded 563 examples at this Mint 9 tier, illustrating the relative scarcity of this promotional print run in high grade. The card features vibrant artwork by Kouki Saitou, depicting Pikachu in Mario's signature overalls and cap against a patterned, gold and red holofoil background.
The Mario Pikachu Special Box was a limited product sold only at Pokémon Center retail locations in Japan starting in October 2016. Because of its restricted, localized distribution, the card remains highly prized by global TCG collectors. It features thematic, Mario-inspired attacks, including "Coin Collect" and "Super Jump," integrating classic Nintendo platformer elements into the Pokémon TCG framework. As an exclusive promo from the late XY era, it stands as a landmark piece of collaborative gaming history.Show more
