The 2018 Topps Update Black parallel featuring Shohei Ohtani (#US285) highlights his MLB Rookie Debut from March 29, 2018. Serial-numbered 48/67, this short-printed issue is limited to 67 total stamped copies. Graded Mint 9 by PSA, the card shows well against the notoriously condition-sensitive black borders and holds a PSA population of 15 at this grade. Given the low print run and rookie status of a generational talent, this piece serves as an investment-grade cornerstone for a high-end baseball collection.
Ohtani's modern achievements continue to elevate his inaugural card releases. In 2024, he founded the 50/50 club as the first player in Major League Baseball history to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season, finishing with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases. He capped the campaign by winning a World Series championship with the Los Angeles Dodgers and earning his third Most Valuable Player award.Show more
