1953 Topps Jackie Robinson #1

Baseball Cards

PSA1.5
Pop420
Graded PSA 1.5 (Fair), this 1953 Topps Jackie Robinson issue represents card #1 in Topps' sophomore flagship release. As the lead card in the set, example copies naturally faced heightened condition sensitivity from placement at the top of wax packs and rubber-banded stacks. The card shows corner rounding and edge wear consistent with the grade while maintaining complete visual presentation of the hand-painted portrait art. According to PSA population records, 420 examples share this PSA 1.5 designation. Following Topps' landmark 1952 set, the 1953 release shifted to realistic artwork painted directly from original photographs. Robinson is depicted in his Brooklyn Dodgers cap above a red team badge, while the reverse features his 1952 season statistics (.308 batting average, 19 home runs, 75 RBIs) and a facsimile signature. Robinson broke the Major League Baseball color barrier in 1947, winning Rookie of the Year honors before claiming the 1949 NL MVP award, a 1955 World Series championship, and induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.Show more
